Budapest train station is evacuated as 1,000 desperate migrants attempt to board carriages heading to Germany - just hours after Merkel hinted at bringing back EU border checks

Several hundred migrants staged an angry demonstration and clashed with police (pictured main and bottom right) following the closure of Keleti station (inset) in Budapest, Hungary. Young men could be heard chanting: 'Germany, Germany', 'We want to leave', and 'Merkel'. It followed the evacuation of the station after scuffles broke out (top right) when desperate families tried to board trains to Vienna, Austria, and Munich, Germany. On Monday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the EU's passport-free travel zone was under threat
